| Barbara is a self-taught photographer and mixed media artist living in southern Calvert County, Maryland. When she was 9 years old, her passion for photography was ignited when her Mom taught her how to use a Brownie camera, and then a Polaroid, with dire warnings not to take so many pictures!
Barbara holds a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Towson University. She has worked as a counselor and advocate with battered women in northern California, and with homeless families in Baltimore City. She taught elementary and middle school, working with students with disabilities.
Her first juried show was "Green: Art with the Earth in Mind" at Annmarie Garden in Solomons, MD. She displays and sells her work at the Annmarie Garden Gift Shop.
Barbara is passionate about photographing nature and the beauty of southern Maryland. She loves experimenting with photography using vintage Kodaks or Polaroids, with her digital cameras, as well as creating altered photographs with pen and ink. She continues to seek ways to take her own art in new directions, and is grateful to all the artists who share and help along the way.
