Beach Bum Art Clay
As Beach Bums we love getting our hands dirty in clay. Taking a thought or image and expressing it through sculpture. Beach Bum Art is the combined efforts of Debra Soreff and Melisa Ricks
Life is a journey and Debra and Melisa decided to take part of that road together to create sea-life and nautical imagery - often with a touch of whimsy.
Debra Soreff, a Boston native, originally a painter discovered sculpture in college and received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art. For over eleven years she has been teaching
children's and adult art classes. Ten of those years she has been teaching at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts located in Annapolis
Melisa Ricks, born in Hawaii - raised in Maryland, moved to the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay several years ago. As a life long collectore of sea-life art, she has filled her home, as well as others, with her work. For the past nine years Melisa has been taking ceramic art leassons as a creative outlet to make the change from stained glass to clay.
Debra and Melisa started Beach Bum Art in 2006 to use their combined talents to create a broad range of sea-life and nautical imagery for the home as well as commercial settings. Beach Bum Art is producing artwork for all surfaces from wall pieces to countertops to outdoor sculptures.
Artwork produced by Beach Bum Art includes: framed art, tiles, jewelry boxes, fountains, mirrors, and custom murals.
